Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Individual Volunteers are needed at our five Nursery locations to share their skills, experiences and talents to assist staff in providing a nurturing environment to children in our care and to support the mission of the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.

Children’s Volunteers care for our kids by engaging them in the day’s activities, including playtime (arts & crafts, dress up, games, outside play), meal/snack time, quiet/nap time, rocking and feeding our babies, etc.

Volunteers also assist with maintaining a welcoming, organized, and safe Nursery environment.

Note: we are unable to provide community service opportunities - please contact the United Way if you need to complete Community Service.

Requirements:

All volunteers must have an understanding of children and respect for their privacy with a non-judgmental attitude toward the children and their parents.  Volunteers must also be at least 14 years old and be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian until the age of 16 years old.

Individual Volunteers are required to complete SLCN’s Volunteer Packet in order to become a Nursery Volunteer. The Volunteer Packet includes but is not limited to, an application, background screenings, medical form, and a copy of the potential Volunteer’s Social Security Card. After successful completion of the Volunteer Packet and being accepted as an SLCN Volunteer, the Volunteer is invited to attend a Volunteer Orientation to learn more about SLCN’s mission and become familiar with the Nursery environment.

Completed Volunteer Packets may take 1-2 weeks for processing due to state screening requirements.

Saint Louis Crisis Nursery receives a high volume of volunteer applications, and we’re only able to consider an application when all of the required items are complete. Before submitting your Volunteer Packet, please make sure that you’ve included all of the required items listed on page 1 of the application.

Please send your completed Volunteer Packet via email, mail or by dropping it off to one of our Nursery locations listed below. Please allow two weeks for processing. We look forward to exploring volunteer opportunities with you and will be in touch after your Volunteer Application has been processed. Thank you!
