Dr. Kara Knight, Ed.D., MSW, LMSW, is a passionate and well-versed therapist and leader who is a learner to her core. Kara loves helping others to heal through mental health care, multifaceted practices, and innovative approaches to help the whole person and family. Kara is inspired by our clients. Our clients at the Nursery are resilient in the face of countless barriers. Parenthood is a beautiful, yet difficult journey. Kara loves that the Nursery does whatever it takes to ease this stress with empathy and a smile.
Kara is an award-winning educator and has vast experience as a teacher, mentor teacher and leader. Kara has a passion for working with children and adults with neurodivergence. Through seeing the extra care needed, Kara began to have a calling for social work, mental health, and community outreach. After gaining her Doctorate, Kara went back to school to become a therapist. Kara began at the Crisis Nursery as a practicum student. Kara loves everything about the Nursery’s mission and had the blessing of working as a Training Program Manager at the Nursery. Kara has a wealth of experience in high acuity outpatient settings with both adults and adolescents supporting various mental health needs through strengths-based supports, a client-focused lens, and evidenced-based therapeutic modalities.
Kara has a certificate in Prenatal and Postnatal Issues and believes strongly in the power of helping Moms through every step of motherhood, from pregnancy and beyond.
