You may have heard about the heartbreaking situation in South St. Louis in which a mother killed her five-year-old son and then herself on Wednesday. This is an awful tragedy, and our hearts go out to the families affected.

The Crisis Nursery team cannot sit still when problems arise. We step up, we help however we can, and we make sure that we are there for the community with whatever we can do. Our staff—who are on the front lines with the families suffering every day—were deeply affected by this horrible news and had to do something with the immense pain and sadness they were feeling.

This afternoon, six of our Family Empowerment Counselors and Social Workers stopped at more than 200 doors in the neighborhood where that little boy and his mom lived with the above note and a flyer with Crisis Nursery information.
